The Federal & State Governments have made many changes to the tobacco industry this last year.
Here is a list of changes that have affected us all !!!
1) On April 1st, 2009 the Federal tax on Roll Your Own tobacco was increased from $1.09 to $24.00 per pound tax to help fund the SCHIP(STATE CHILDRENS HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM) BILL.
2) On September 1, 2009 the State increase it's tobacco tax from 50% to 71% of manufacturers list price. This means that on all Roll Your Own tobacco the consumer pays a $24.00 tax + cost of tobacco + state tax of 71% of manufacturers list price + 5.5% or applicable county sales tax on the retail price. TRIPLE TAXATION !!! Cigarillos and blunts also increased from 50% to 71% tax.
3) On September 1, 2009 Clove cigarettes and Flavored cigarettes (excluding Menthol) were banned and the retailers were given until September 21st at midnight to sell all of their inventory.
4) On September 22, 2009 all Flavored rolling papers and Flavored cigarette tubes were banned. This was 1/3 of the 300+ paper selection that we offered for sale.
